Climb on Safely Training

For Adult Leaders

Tour permits for a climbing/rappelling activity, require the name of an adult leader within the troop or crew who has taken and is committed to the 8 points of Climb on SafelyThe Climb on Safely card is good for only two years.  An adult leader has several options to obtain and update their Climb on Safely card.

Visit your council website for a H.A.T. Unit Leader Climbing Awareness Course.  This is a one day course "On the Rocks" that goes beyond the  presentation and shows you first hand why Climb on safely is the key to keeping scouts safe while on a climbing or rappelling outing.
How to book a outing from campsites to instructors.
What to do before the outing as will as how you can help during the outing.
We teach you how to tie climbing knots, belay, climb, and rappel, all in a effort  not only show you how you can help and watch out for, but also what your scouts will be experiencing during their climbing/rappelling outing.
After completing the course you will also recieve your high adventure segments for Rock climbing and Rappelling.

Or you may also contact your council or Rock climbing Committee to request a Climb on Safely Training presentation at your district roundtable and encourage all your adult leaders to attend.

If you have already planned an outing with a BSA instructor, ask your climbing Instructor to present Climb on safely Training at your troop or crew meeting.

If you cannot attend a full course or you just need to update your Climb on safely card, you may choose to attend the first hour of any H.A.T.Climbing  Course with no charge.  Please e-mail Paul Espinoza for availability

Please do not sign up for the full course, if only attending the Climb on Safely Training presentation to receive a COS card.

COURSE OR PRESENTATION DOES NOT QUALIFY YOU AS A BSA  CLIMBING INSTRUCTOR
